Putting Families First

Erica Harriss knows every dollar matters. That’s why she voted to eliminate Illinois’ grocery tax and has fought against new taxes and fees that make everyday life more expensive, including proposals targeting home deliveries, car repairs, and childcare. Erica believes Springfield should live within its means instead of asking taxpayers to keep paying more.

Making Care More Affordable

The cost of healthcare should never stand between families and the care they need. Erica supports eliminating the sales tax on prescription drugs and cancer treatments and has backed efforts to reduce hidden fees and out-of-pocket healthcare costs. She will continue working to make quality care more affordable and accessible for Metro East residents.

Standing Up for Metro East Workers

As the granddaughter of a Granite City steelworker, Erica understands what good-paying jobs mean to Metro East communities. She has fought to protect local jobs at Granite City Works, demanded answers following the closure of Alton Steel, and supported efforts to modernize America’s Central Port. Erica continues to champion vocational education, workforce training, and policies that create opportunities for people to build careers close to home.

Protecting Kids, Not Politics

Protecting children is one of Erica’s highest priorities. She has written and sponsored legislation to crack down on child predators, strengthen protections for victims, and combat human trafficking. Every child-protection bill Erica sponsored that reached a vote passed unanimously, proving that keeping kids safe is an issue that should rise above politics.
